Introduction
“As light, I came in the midst of humanity, and found them drunk with ignorance and intoxicated with foolishness. They have forgotten the truth about God and life, have strayed from the paths of righteousness and they hate every form of holiness.” – Jesus Christ
A holy water may be blood of Jesus, consuming fire, thunder and lightning or ordinary water which has been sanctified.
Many people are not pleased when the holy water sprayed on them, especially when the spray is a heavy down pour. Some have stopped attending prayers or worship, simply because holy water was poured down on them. They are concerned with the physical aspect of making their bodies and dresses wet, without understanding the spiritual importance.
These wrong attitudes were fostered by churches, which were man-made, and which misled humanity from the path of truth and the way of life. The result is that today people do not know what they should know about God and they cannot recognize when the right thing is being done.
Washing of the body and spraying of holy water is normal spiritual exercise with great advantages and should be encouraged by all and sundry.
A survey of the bible shows that washing of the body and spraying of holy water is both good and compulsory:
- Jesus washed the feet of the Apostles. He did not just touch their feet with water. He poured water on the feet, to the extent that he has to wipe their feet with towel.
5 After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded himself.
John 13:5
- John the Baptist introduced the baptism of water. The baptism he introduced was not sprinkling as many churches wrongly do today. He brought immersion baptism, whereby the whole of a person’s body has to be dipped inside the river or stream.
4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Mark 1:4
- The scriptures shows that Jesus went into the water for baptism, not just touching the water
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Matthew 3:16
- After he was baptised, Jesus began to baptise others.
26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him. John 3:26
- The healing of Naaman was not just an ordinary physical treatment. It was both physical and spiritual exercise. Then, it was necessary that all his body be dipped into the water seven times.
14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh became again like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 2 Kings 5:14
- In the book of Ezekiel, God made it clear that He would wash His people clean with holy water, saying:
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
- God also stated, clearly, the several, great and wonderful benefits of washing people with holy water.
29 I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. 30 And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. 31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
33 Thus said the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be built. 34 And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.
35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. 36 Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.
37 Thus said the Lord God; I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. 38 As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the Lord. Ezekiel 36:25-38
- In the books of Leviticus and numbers, God specified several conditions for which people should bath their bodies. People have all these bad conditions and carry them about from day to day, just like the babies who roll themselves over the sands and would not wash their bodies unless their parents insist. People become spiritually dirty and smelling whenever they step into the shrines of idols, and there are so many such shrine places today, even in the markets, family compounds, streams and along the ways. Also, people develop awful appearances and disgusting conditions, when they step on charms, whether they know it or not. Likewise, when people enter into shops dedicated to idols, cultic kingdoms, or when they touch somebody possessed who is possessed by the marine spirits. The same thing happens when people are attacked by witches at night during sleep. The odour that comes from the witches is usually an evil stench, which envelopes the person who is attacked. The evil stench sticks to his body and remain on him for several days. And majority of the people are ignorant of these facts.
- Now that you have heard these facts, you should be doing yourself a great service by washing your body regularly with holy water.
- The book of revelation made it clear that the end time forces of darkness shall be so bad and terrible that Jesus had to soak his entire rope in the blood of the lamb.
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a robe dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Revelation 19:11-16
- If Jesus who is God dips His robe in the blood of Jesus, in order to fight the end time battle, then every child of God should even do so more often than not. One problem with Christianity is that the religious leaders are more interested in increasing membership than in developing the spiritual abilities of the children of God. Today, churches, ministries and fellowships have become the prisons that prevent people from seeking and finding God, all because the religious leaders are spiritually dead, unenlightened and inexperienced.
- Again, the book of Revelation makes it clear that every believer must wash his garment with the blood of the lamb. The problem with Christianity is that people are busy everyday doing the theory without doing the practical. Thereby, people make themselves hypocrites because they do not practise what they preach.
1 Then spoke Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do (learn and practise); but do not you do their works: for they say, and do not (practise). 4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. Matthew 23:1-4
What is the heavy burden Jesus was talking about? It means demonic pollutions, devilish attacks and spiritual bondage from the evil spirits, shrines, demons, ghosts, witches and forces of darkness as explained above. ‘But they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.’ This statement is true because most of the reverend fathers and sisters and their seniors do not perform deliverance, healing or anointing in order to set people free. They are busy dinning and winning on the tithes and offerings, while souls perish into the hell fire.
- The book of Mark says more about spiritual bath by holy wash:
49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Mark 9:49
When salt is added to the meal, it melts into the food, mixes with the food and becomes one with it. That means that the children of God shall be drenched with the consuming fire of the Holy Spirit, both physically and spiritually. Is it not disappointing that most of the ministers of God do not know how to do this very important task?
- Spiritual bath and washing are very important, and indispensable, before a person can enter into the kingdom of heaven.
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, Who are these which are arrayed in white robes? and from whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knows. And he said to me, These are they who came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sits on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Revelation 7:9-17
- You should know that water is life. The same water is healing when sprayed on the body. Blessed are those who are washed with holy water from time to time, because even so they move from one level of perfection to a higher level.
- Jesus Directed The Blind Man To Go And Wash
Jesus directed the blind man to wash not only his eyes, but also all his body.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. John 9:6-7
- Washing Is Compulsory Before Ministration At The Altar
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2 Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and a bullock for the sin offering, and two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread;
3 And gather thou all the congregation together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
4 And Moses did as the Lord commanded him; and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
5 And Moses said unto the congregation, This is the thing which the Lord commanded to be done.
6 And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water. Leviticus 8:1-6
Also, in-between the altar and holy of holies, there was kept a vessel for the washing of hands before entering the holiest section of the tabernacles
- Very importantly, when people undergo purification, they should wash their bodies with holy water, inside the mission or at home.
- At times, it is both good and necessary for a person to come to the mission and take bath with holy water for 3 or 7 days, as the case may be.
- It is necessary that every minister of God wash his body at least twice a day. First, in the morning; and second, at night before going to bed.
- On the day of thier purification, nursing mothers should wash her bodies and the babies with holy (warm) water.
- Besides,
washing the head with holy water prevents sleepless nights, cares and worries of everyday life.
